Loredana Berté was born in Bagnara Calabra (Reggio Calabria) on September 20th 1950.
Third of four daughters, she was born three years after her sister Domenica Bertè (later known with the stage name of Mia Martini), who passed away on May 12th 1995 at the age of 47.
Loredana’s parents (Giuseppe Radames Berté and Maria Salvina Dato) both worked as teachers with a humble background. She spent her childhood in Porto Recanati, then in Ancona.
